Lexus SC300 T56 Magnum swap

I have been trying to find an SC300 to swap over to my "GR700" T56 Magnum for quite some time, and I happened upon a nice example in South Carolina. It was a 1995 model, red with black interior and a 5-speed. I specifically wanted to find a 5-speed so that I got the shifter position exactly in the same location as a stock manual car. For those of you say "but wait, my SC300 is an automatic"... don't worry, you can swap the tunnel over, or keep it simpler and just trim the auto tunnel to fit the shifter extension arm similar to the Supra tunnel modifications from a previous blog post.

Here is the car:

Here is the SC300 T56 Magnum Swap kit installed:

For the swap, I was able to use many of the same components as my MKIV Supra kit, including the quicktime bellhousing, billet relocation shifter, and TUET11009 "close ratio" Tremec T56 Magnum transmission.

The full bolt-in SC300 swap kit includes:

  1. Brand new "GR700" Tremec T56 Magnum TUET11009 with upgrades to GR900, GR1000, GR1000F available
  2. Quicktime Bellhousing RM-4030
  3. Quicktime 2JZ hardware kit
  4. 2JZ-T56 Pilot bushing
  5. Billet aluminum relocation/extension shifter
  6. Full chromoly fabricated crossmember
  7. Prothane Poly T56 transmission mount
  8. Driveshaft is optional, available in carbon fiber or aluminum for the stock differential. I can get shafts made for other rears as well I will just need your length measurement.
  9. Wiring pigtail kit with billet speed sensor plug

If you add up all these parts, you will see that I am matching prices with big name speed shops like Summit and Jegs. Not only do I match big box store pricing but I put it all together in a one-stop-shop package deal and also provide you with the little details they don't... like proper hardware and a pilot bearing for the bellhousing, which quicktime doesn't include... Also I trim the bell to fit perfectly, I am not just drop shipping an item and taking my cut of profit. I also include a wiring pigtail kit, and billet speed sensor blockoff. Oh, and did I mention I have actual product support as well? Try calling Summit and asking for help on your T56 Magnum swap!

I also offer clutch options including a NEW budget single disc FX300 or FX400 that uses the stock flywheel. If you want to bundle a clutch and transmission package contact me.

Here is a short walkaround of the car with the transmission installed.

The only modification that is required to the stock tunnel is light tapping at the front of the shifter hole. I am talking maybe 1/8", so very light tapping will take care of it, and its fully reversible and does not permanently damage the car in any way. You also need to trim out some of the stock rubber to allow the shifter relocation arm to fit, again very minor work. See picture below.
