This SpeedHut GPS to speedometer cable drive unit is the easiest, cleanest and quickest way to get your transmission swap chassis with a mechanical/cable drive speedo up and working without issue. This unit is what we recommend for any older car or truck that does not use a electronic VSS where you want to retain the factory speedo cable drive. This unit can be installed under the dash and uses a GPS antenna to pick up real time speed and translate it to revolutions in the cable drive.

This is a recommended part for the MK3 supra, Z20 soarer, and other late model import chassis that utilize a cable drive. For the import applications like Toyota you will be swapping the cable provided into the factory toyota cable sleeve to make a "hybrid" cable.

Speedhut PART/SKU Number: A-304
  • No calibration is necessary! Plug-n-Play! SPEEDBOX™ Mechanical Drive Speedometer Box (mechanical drive cable included). The Speedhut SpeedBox is designed to operate a cable-driven mechanical speedometer using an electric speed signal from GPS or modern transmission. The Box can be installed in the dash or under the hood.

    Drive Output Thread is 7/8"-18
    Drive Output Square is 0.112"
    1000 turns per mile

Drive your Mechanical Speedometer using any of the following signals:
    - GPS (automatically calibrates using the included GPS antenna)
    - VSS
    - CAN-Bus (j1979 Protocol)

    Ships with:
    - Speedometer Cable (I only stock the GM thread-on on style, but if you need something else let me know and i can get it)
    - Wiring Harness
    - GPS Antenna

To make this work on a MK3 Supra, you need to modify the GM cable provided with the speedbox unit, and merge it with the toyota cable end. Here is a video of this process
