The GR "A" kit is the street car version of the full bolt in T56 Magnum-Fswap kit for the Tacoma. The A (previously called GR700A) stands for Aluminum bellhousing, as this kit comes with the Grannas Racing cast aluminum bellhousing. This bell is superior for a street car as it is far superior at dampening noise. It also has a large inspection hole which makes servicing a release bearing much easier.

The kit is also available with optional Quicktime Steel SFI safety spec bellhousing for racing applications.

This kit was designed for the Tremec T56 Magnum-F and includes bell housing of choice, chromoly transmission crossmember, bluetooth wiring harness, and all hardware required. Driveshafts and clutches are optional, but recommended to make this an easy bolt-in experience. There is NO CORE charge for our transmission kits.

This kit is intended for the 1995-2004 1st generation Tacoma, which includes the N140, N150, N160, N170 and N190. This kit is ONLY for trucks that have been 1JZ or 2JZ swapped.

The wiring harness we include makes for a super clean and simple install. But not only that, but it has a bluetooth module with you can play with the settings such as reverse lockout control, and convert and adjust the T56 speed signal to make the factory speedometer work perfectly. No more need to cut down the reverse lockout spring or wire in a manual reverse unlock switch, this will auto unlock reverse under a set MPH (defaults to 4mph)! All of the settings are all adjustable through your smart phone with an app.

If you add up the cost on all these parts, you will see that I am matching prices with big name speed shops like Summit and Jegs. Not only do I match big box store pricing but I put it all together in a one-stop-shop package deal and do the work to make sure everything fits in the chassis with as little work possible. I also provide you with the little details they don't... like proper hardware for EVERYTHING. I am not just drop shipping an item and taking my cut of profit like these big name stores. I also include a wiring kit to make the wiring side of things easy. Oh, and did I mention I have actual product support as well? Try calling Summit and asking for help on your import car!

The stock tremec Magnum is rated at 700 ft lbs of torque. These T56 Magnum transmissions are FREAKISHLY strong and will outlast all other h-pattern transmissions at high power levels. Everything I build is tested rigorously in my racing program. No one else pushes these parts to the level I do! You can rest assured all parts go through my quality control and abused to test the limits of these 6-speed transmissions!

In 2016, I built and tested the first Supra T56 Magnum kit in my own car to be a direct replacement for the Getrag V160. After much research I found that the Tremec T56 Magnum was the strongest and best candidate to replace the V160. I built the first kit and the rest is history. These transmissions are now the "norm" in many import cars. The Tremec T56 Magnum transmissions have great aftermarket support, aftermarket gearsets, and parts readily available if an issue would arise. 

This is perfectly setup for the Tacoma. The shifter sits perfectly in the factory location.

This bolt-in kit includes:

    • Grannas Racing Cast Aluminum Bellhousing 
    • Full chromoly transmission crossmember (requires drilling frame)
    • Grannas rubber transmission mount for aluminum bell kits, and Prothane poly mount for steel bell kits.
    • Includes bluetooth wiring harness
    • All hardware required.
      • I recommend the "close ratio" TUET16362 - 2.66, 1.78, 1.30, 1.00, .80, .63 but i can also get this in "wide ratio" TUET16363 - 2.97, 2.10, 1.46, 1.00, .74, .50
      • Driveshafts are available in aluminum and carbon fiber for almost any rear end combination.

    All transmission builds are created from brand new TREMEC T56 Magnum's, NO USED transmissions EVER. These are then built to your specs. Choose the power level you need.

    We take a brand new Magnum Trans and give it a full REM polishing and Cryogenic treatment of the gear set. We do a 1st thru 4th carbon fiber blocker ring upgrade. Then include upgraded bronze Fork Pads on all forks. Also includes sprayer bung mod and case mods to fit Supra tunnel. Read more here: GR1200 Transmission

    We take a brand new Magnum Trans and faceplate 1st-4th gears. Includes custom billet shift forks, bronze fork pads, and then we do a cryogenic treatment of the gearset, and then do a rem polishing of the gearset. Read more here: GR1500 Transmission  


    This crossmember is designed to be able to be slid forward and back based on the engine placement in the bay. This does not use any factory bolt holes, and instead requires you to drill four holes in the frame to allow pass-through bolts to be used. This is the best, strongest way to do this and allows flexibility in the engine mounting location as well. This also ensures my kit will fit no matter what engine mounts you are using.

    In the install/mockup pictures the kit is using a quicktime bell, but the Grannas cast bell also fits exactly the same. Also in the mockup picture we used a Magnum-F which was only for mockup purposes. This kit will include a regular magnum, which is a better fit for the shifter location in these trucks.

    The OEM toyota tunnel requires minimal tunnel modification near the bellhousing and at the rear of the trans with some minor tapping by the reverse lockout solenoid.

    If you are converting a factory auto truck it will require some trimming of the tunnel. I do not offer the OEM taco parts at this time, sorry!

    PLEASE NOTE: On a small displacement engine, or turbo application, the T56 Magnum transmission works great with shorter rear gearing. I recommend the 3.73 to 4.30 range. What I consider the best rear ratio for most street cars is 4.10
