V160 Tilton Adjustable Hydraulic Clutch Release Bearing Kit
Improve Your Clutch Engagement
Do you have a clutch that is like an on/off switch? This can happen with clutches with high ratio pressure plates. I use this same bearing on all our T56 Magnum swaps, and this bearing will make your clutch have a wider engagement range rather an on/off switch that comes with using some of the fork bearings or movement alteration kits.
This adjustable hydraulic clutch release bearing will allow you to run almost any push style clutch for the 6-speed Getrag V160 or V161 in a Supra or other 2JZ powered car. This also fits perfectly on the Nissan GT-R R34 Getrag V160 transmission.
From my experience the Tilton hydraulics are the best quality, and I feel like choosing the right bearing is of the utmost importance. A bearing failure can be absolute pain to fix, as it will require removing the transmission to be serviced or replaced.
This bearing does require quite a bit of fluid volume, so it does require upgrading your master cylinder to a larger bore.
Upgraded Tilton Clutch master kits are available for the most popular chassis.
Watch the following video to learn about properly installing your HRB, as well as how to properly measure and set the clutch air gap up.
NOTE: This video is for a T56 setup, but the basic principles for how to setup your release bearing air gap apply. On transmissions that have a bellhousing that is non-removable you just have to measure from the front edge of the bellhousing back into the bearing face instead.
Choosing the Proper Bearing Face
The easiest way to tell what bearing face you need is to look at your clutch pressure plate. The finger design will either be a standard "straight finger" or at the tips you will see a radius/flared type end.
If you have the flared fingers, you will use a flat face bearing. If you have straight fingers then you will use a radius bearing.
There are also smaller versions of the radius type bearings (38mm and 44mm) but they are seldom used. The 72mm flat face and 52-54mm radius face are the most common and fit almost all clutch applications.
